SLIDE COVER GLASS FOR SLIDE MASKS

EXPLANATION ON THE USE OF SLIDE COVER GLASS.

The 41x101 mm. and 60x130 mm. slide cover glass is used to protect slides,
which are mounted on a mask, against dust and dirt.
The glass is 1.1 mm. thick and you need 2 of them.
With the slides mounted on the mask and put between the two glasses, the total thickness
comes to 2.5 mm.

Often these are used in viewing devices which are placed outdoors or in viewers
in museums and expositions. Surveillants or people who 'maintain' these devices
do not always treat the slides with care. So some protection in this situation,
especially when the slides are originals, is very welkom.

The disadvantage of the use of cover glass is that it is expensive, it takes more
time to mount the slides, it is fragile and, when it breaks, it meight scratch
your slides.

When using the slides in a cheap projector, the slides meight not get enough cooling.
This results in burned slides, or the slide sticks to the glass.
Almost always the polished glass causes Newton rings in the image, to avoid this problem,
you can use anti Newton glass although we do not supply that.
The slides are heavy, causing some automatic 3D projectors having problems with
the magazine transport.

So we recommand the system only for viewer use in a situation where the slides
are not changed frequently and occasionly for projector use with short show time.
